Gold Star Ranking System for College Football.

So here is a sport show host's suggestion for a Gold Star System. A host for 1320 Kfan in SLC, Utah suggested that maybe they should do they polls by a system of gold stars. That for each win, the team gets as many gold stars as D1 wins that team has. So because BYU beat UCLA, they get 3 stars and each time UCLA or any of the teams they beat gets a win, they get a gold star.
Here is the ranking if it was done like that:

1- Texas 23
2- Ohio St 19
3- Boise St 18
3- Utah 18
5- Michigan St 17
5- Georgia 17

Unbiased Rankings for College Football 10-19-08

Again here is my attempt to have a unbiased power ranking system in college football based solely on states, unlike our big concocted stinkpickle that is the BCS.
In an attempt to have a system that ranks teams based on nothing more than margin of victory and opponents win pct and margin of victory, the following is the formula.

(Margin of Victory * opp win pct.) + Avg per game of Opp (margin of victory * their opponents win pct.) + [5 pts for win * opp win pct)
5 pts chosen because half of that is the avg Marg of victory * opp win pct per win.
This rewards teams a little more for winning otherwise, you have sub .500 teams in the top 20.

Here is this weeks:
1- Texas 19.39
2- Missouri 16.31
3- USC 14.55
4- Oklahoma 14.55
5- Florida 13.80
6- Ohio St. 12.49
7- Georgia 11.32
8- Penn St 11.31
9- Nebraska 8.66
10- TCU 8.28
11- Texas Tech 8.23
12- Oklahoma St. 8.09
13- Tulsa 8.07
14- Boise St. 7.23
